On Stage With Tim Harvey and Alex Clark at Oulton Park during BARC North West's Touring Car Rewind, Saturday 16th May...

When it comes to Super Touring cars, is doesn't get much better than this!

This front-running ex-works Nissan Primera GT Super Tourer, raced by Anthony Reid and eligible for some of historic motorsport’s most prestigious events around the world.
This particular example, chassis #98-P11-44, was commissioned in 1998 by Nissan Motorsport Europe and constructed by Ray Mallock Ltd. for use in that season’s British Touring Car Championship.
During its works' career, it was driven by Anthony Reid in various BTCC rounds whilst also forming part of Nissan’s ongoing development and testing programme.
By the close of the 1998 season, the car had evolved into one of the team’s strongest performers, contributing to a highly successful period for Nissan Motorsport and RML during the peak of the Super Touring era.
Up for auction in the Iconic Sale at @supercarfest, 16th May, opportunities to own ex-works cars, like this one, don't come up very often and cars of this calibre are now increasingly recognised as offering exceptional value within historic motorsport.

We saw a plethora of Super Touring icons take to Goodwood Motor Circuit at #83MM, but which one of these was your favourite: the #Ford Mondeo, the #Peugeot 406 or the #Volvo 850?

Great interest in the Ford Mondeo Super Touring Car I drove in the Shootout lead to me being followed around by a film crew all weekend...

Prodrive will help bring to life one of the headline attractions at this weekend’s 83rd Goodwood Members’ Meeting, as the golden era of British Touring Car racing returns to the Goodwood Motor Circuit.
The event will host nearly 50 Touring Cars from the period, with The Super Touring Shootout promising a rare and evocative celebration of late-1990s touring car racing, with legendary machinery and drivers returning to the circuit. Among the standout entries will be the Prodrive-built and run 2000 Ford Mondeo, driven during the season by Anthony Reid, who will once again take the wheel as the car competes in the timed Shootout itself..."

Goodwood FOS: "When did the legendary Super Touring era of the #BTCC officially peak? We’d suggest a strong argument can be made for 1998. From the brilliant title battle between Rykard Rydell’s #Volvo S40 and Anthony Reid’s #Nissan Primera — seen here going head-to-head up the #FOS Hill — to Nigel Mansell’s marvellous cameos, it was a season that truly had it all!
If you want to relive Touring Car’s greatest era, make sure to tune in to our #83MM live stream this weekend, when a field of Super Tourers will descend on our Motor Circuit for a Timed Shoot-Out. Trust us, you won’t want to miss it."

Packed circuits everywhere they went, a grid full of factory-sponsored teams and millions watching at home as Murray Walker pumped up the volume on BBC TV. Let’s go back to the ‘90s with the Superstars of Supertouring. The truth, the lies and the legends from three men who back then wouldn't be in the same room unless they'd been called in front of the stewards...

23 days to go until the start of the BTCC Season. @winAnthonyReid in his Nissan Primera GT at @Brands_Hatch back in 1998.

What was the real key to #Ford’s success in the final year of #SuperTouring? We spoke to Anthony Reid about the team’s domination in the 2000 #BTCC season as well as his later touring car career.

Is this the ultimate Super Tourer? The Prodrive-powered #Ford Mondeo proved unstoppable in the final year of the BTCCs greatest era, as Alain Menu, Anthony Reid and Rickard Rydell swept to a Ford 1-2-3, winning 11 of the 24 races.

Stories from Touring Car's Greatest Era
If you were a motorsport fan in the '90s, you'll probably agree with us that the Super Touring era is THE era for the best racing action. A series that was so relatable to the average motorsport fan. The salesman rep car parked on their drive was the bedroom poster car on the weekend. People were making genuine car purchasing decision based on seeing that Vauxhall Vectra or Nissan Primera shunt its way to a paint-swapping victory. Those unfamiliar with Super Touring might just see a casual Ford Mondeo and wonder what all the fuss was about. What they didn't know was that Mondeo was closer to an F1 car than it was to the car that cut them off on the M25.
To properly reminisce about this era, we invited four Super Touring legends to Goodwood. Jason Plato, Steve Soper, Anthony Reid and Patrick Watts sat down for a trip down memory lane as they reveal all the untold stories of the era. If you're a motorsport fan of any kind, sit back, relax and enjoy.
If you want to see the Super Touring cars in action, there are limited Sunday tickets available at the 83rd Members' Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport available. Make sure you don't miss out on the Shoot-Out finale of a lifetime.

"My son forwarded these photos sent from Jacob Ebrey. They got me thinking about how times have changed.
And Why the bow ties?
The whole RML /NME machine had worked tirelessly over the 97/98 winter to make a number of improvements to the car , team and strategy. We started the season with some confidence but still unsure of the competition, as all of us were sandbagging at shared tests. As the season started it was evident things had improved, and we had a strong package.
At Oulton park at the Friday free practice debrief, we had a conversation to what we would do if we had a pole position on Saturday, we agreed that engineering and management would wear a bow ties on race day.
That year David Leslie would pick up two victories, including the first for the car at Silverstone in April. But the star of the season would be Anthony Reid picking up eleven pole positions and seven victories, the most of any driver. So the bow tie became a common sight on Sundays.
In reflection it had a dual significance one as a sign to other teams we were on pole, and also that we didn’t take ourselves too seriously. It created a great sense of accomplishment in the team and helped to build confidence.
A few years later when we told the story to Eric Nève the Chevrolet motorsport manager, he delighted in telling us the Chevrolet logo is actually a bow tie , so as the Lacetti improved performance and got its 1st pole position the bow ties came out but were gold rather than red.
Nothing sounds better in your head set than listening to the race engineers commentary, saying, purple sector 1, purple sector 2 , purple sector 3 , and that’s pole! It was then down to media team to update Cefax and teletext and tell the world to help sell some cars"

"We didn’t know how good we had it. The Super Touring era of the ‘90s is quite often cited as the pinnacle of wheel to wheel racing. The car sat on the next door neighbour’s drive was swapping paint with your parent’s car with the added spice of straight cut gears and Murray Walker’s enthusiasm for the sport. #FOS
